Troubleshooting
Work from the top. Each section starts with what you see, then the cause and the fix.
First checks
On the panel (inside the container, if the panel runs in Docker):
sh
php artisan p:extension:list | grep krappleThe extension should show enabled. If it does not, enable it under Admin → Extensions, then hard-refresh the browser.
The Player Manager tab does not appear
On one server only — the panel does not recognise the egg as Minecraft. The tab needs the egg to have the eula feature or the minecraft / minecraft-java tag.
Tag the egg under Admin → Eggs → your egg → Tags, or switch the server to a stock Minecraft egg. Custom "generic Java" eggs usually lack both.
For one subuser only — they lack the View permission. See Permissions.
On every server — the extension is disabled, or the panel is serving a cached frontend. Enable it, then hard-refresh (Ctrl+F5 or Cmd+Shift+R). If that does not help, reinstall the extension to republish its assets.
The tab loads but says "Players could not be loaded"
The API answered with an error. The usual causes:
| What you see | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| An error about permission | No View permission for this user | Grant View |
| The page cannot find the extension | The extension is disabled, or was updated without refreshing | Re-enable it, then hard-refresh |
| A server error | A panel-side problem | Check the panel log |
The Connection tile says "Console" instead of "RCON"
That is not a failure — Player Manager has fallen back to the console. Everything still works, with three limits:
- the online list may show at most 12 names
- live data refreshes at most every 30 seconds
- each read prints a line in the server's console
Open Player Manager → More → Connection settings; the banner explains why:
| Banner | What to do |
|---|---|
| RCON is off, with no message | Press Set up RCON. It takes a few seconds. |
| No free port | Add an allocation to the node, or raise the server's allocation limit, then wait five minutes or retry |
| RCON is set up and turns on when the server restarts | Press Restart now, or let it restart when empty |
| RCON is unreachable, or rejected the password | Somebody changed server.properties. Press Set up RCON to redo it, or correct the password in the dialog. |
| RCON is not enabled in server.properties | Automatic setup is off. Enable it in the admin settings, or configure RCON by hand. |
If Set up RCON is not shown at all, you lack the Connection permission.
RCON is on, but some data is missing
Some panels sit behind a proxy, or run the server on another host. In that case the default host does not reach Minecraft.
Enter the RCON host explicitly in Connection settings — the node's address, the allocation IP, or the host name players use — plus the port and password if they differ. Test RCON tells you immediately whether it can reach it.
"Nothing happens" when I use an action
Look at the toast. Player Manager shows the server's own answer when it refuses:
- "That player is not online" — they left between the page loading and the click. Refresh.
- "Unknown command" — the Minecraft version does not have that command, often an effect added in a later version. Check the Version tile.
- No message at all — the request failed before reaching the server. A permission error means the permission is missing; a node error means the panel could not reach the server.
The History tab records the same attempt with the server's answer, including failures, which is usually faster than reproducing it.
The inventory editor will not open, or does nothing
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No Edit button | The inventory editor is off, or you lack Gameplay | Turn it on / grant the permission |
| Edit opens, but items cannot be dragged | The player is offline | The editor needs an online player |
| "The inventory changed. Refresh and try again." | The player's inventory changed in game while you were editing | Refresh; nothing was overwritten |
| Items move on the page but not in game | RCON is unavailable, so the page is showing the last save | Fix RCON |
| No items at all | The player has never been saved, or the world folder does not match | Let them join once; check level-name in server.properties |
| Changing an amount removes enchantments | The server is older than 1.20.5 | Use Put item with the enchanted item, or update the server |
The console is full of plugin lines
Two kinds of line, two fixes:
- Command echoes from RCON — Keep the console quiet should remove them. If they come back, a game rule was turned back on; opening the tab restores it once.
- "Thread RCON Client … started / shutting down" — these are printed by Minecraft itself. They appear once per page load or command run, and cannot be removed without a server plugin.
The whitelist, operators or bans look wrong
The panel reads the server's JSON files and caches them briefly. If another plugin edits those files while the server runs, the panel may show the previous version for a few seconds. Press Refresh in the More menu.
If Whitelist says off but players are still being rejected, the whitelist was toggled in game: Minecraft also honours enforce-whitelist. The tile reflects the white-list setting.
Managing a stopped server fails
That is expected for everything except the whitelist, operators and bans. Those are plain files, so they can be edited while the server is down; everything else needs a running server.
If a whitelist change is refused while the server is really stopped, make sure you are on 1.1.0 or newer. Older versions could think a just-stopped server was still running for a few seconds.
History is empty
- The History permission is missing, so the tab is hidden.
- Nothing has been done through Player Manager yet. Actions from the console or file manager are not recorded here.
- Keep history for is set very low, and cleanup removed old entries.
Reporting a problem
Include:
- the exact message from the toast, or the History entry
- your panel version, the Player Manager version and the Minecraft version
- what you were doing, and the approximate time
The History tab is usually the fastest evidence, because it records the server's own answer.
